I'll be on location from 11AM to 6PM on Friday the 10th, and plan on hosting cocktails for any Y.Chroma gents who care to stop by.
Last February, at the height of Y.Chroma's first New York Fashion Week madness, I slipped out and hopped a cab to visit with Ken and Jim Giddon, owners of the storied Rothmans men's store on Park Avenue South.
For those of you who don't know, Rothmans is an institution in New York. Founded by Harry Rothman in 1928, the business was re-born and renewed by his grandsons, Ken and Jim.
I absolutely love a re-invention story, and Rothmans is one for the ages. When Harry passed in 1985, the New York Times speculated in the obituary that the store might close.
Ken and Jim stepped up, and in the years since they have taken the brand to places that would make their grandfather immensely proud. Today, Rothman's is the largest independent menswear retailer in the US.
I'm looking forward to seeing Y.Chroma have a physical presence in New York, and very proud to be associated with this iconic New York brand –and family.
